Safety Tip

LCD’s on your laptop can break. We want to help protect yourself as well as protect the technicians that will be handling the break. If your screen shatters for whatever reason (dropped it, closed lid with pen on keyboard, got mad at your boss and punched the screen), chances are the gorilla glass panel will start to flake off tiny shards of glass. These tiny glass shards can cause harm if you are not careful. We recommend following these steps to insure your safety as well as others involved.

  1. Don’t panic, accidents happen
  2. Assess the area surrounding your laptop before picking it up
  3. If there are any glass flakes present see if you can vacuum them up or sweep them into the trash
  4. Assess the screen and keyboard area
  5. If there are any cracks, spider webbing or glass shards take note of them
  6. Grab some tape. (Packing tape or masking tape is preferred)
  7. Place long pieces of tape over the LCD to ensure the glass stays intact and to prevent even more breakage during shipment. This also ensures that our technician handling your laptop will not injure themselves upon unpacking and inspecting.
  8. If you can, vacuum of the keyboard.
